The U.S. curtailing domestic oil and gas production while China moves ahead with "carbon-intensive" projects, and while the President Biden asks OPEC to increase oil production, amounts to unilateral economic disarmament. Even if you think a worldwide carbon tax is worth the cost, the U.S. adopting a grab-bag subsidies and restrictions on its own is not worth the cost to Americans. I never see cost benefit analyses done of things like banning natural gas hookups.
