I am a consultant/contractor, with a new customer/employer about once/year. But, I still think most of the advice seemed on target. Really, one would want to be _able_ to stay employed, regardless of the fact that one chooses to move on frequently. Plus, most of this also applies to a position where you're changing jobs frequently, since your reputation will often precede you.

I didn't at all hear scorn for different goals:

"So maybe not all of this advice I’ve given applies to you if your priorities are different. Also, maybe I am not qualified to talk about how to deal with some situations like having to job hop between startups and so on. I can only offer what I have learned myself, take away what is useful."

I just think it provides less security than alternatives. To me, you want career security; the ability to leave at the drop of a hat to somewhere else.
