Preorders for This Electromagnetic Rifle Are Being Taken for $3,775

Cool concept but the trigger is a tradgedy of safety. If the user needs to "slightly depress" the trigger to charge a shot, that makes pressing the trigger in too far a real possibility. Nobody should have their finger on the trigger unless they want to thing at the other end of the barrel dead.

A thumb or hand pressure trigger for the charging would be way better.

I did not see mention of rifling in the barrel, which imparts gyroscopic stability in rifles. I am not sure the Gauss gun should qualify as a rifle.

If the weapon delivers about 100J or 75 foot pounds of energy, then that is less energy than a slingshot. Not terribly impressive for a weapon of any sort.

Maybe they should rethink their design and use the electricity to compress air in an air rifle.

Would probably be better off putting the batteries and capacitors in a backpack than on the gun itself.

I see what looks like an Arduino on one of the pictures. That combined with the plexiglass construction makes it hard to justify the $3000 pricetag for what is essentially some highschooler's hobby project.

Rube Goldberg would be proud.
