Ask HN: How to get involved in “maker culture” these days?

I just found out that Maker Faire died. I never went to one, though now I wish I had.

What’s the equivalent now? Is maker culture dead or has it just fragmented? Do Adafruit or other organizations do conventions?

I realize nothing is stopping me from getting started on my own, but I like the idea of participating in a community

i remember reading about the death of 'maker faire' - the causes of etc. - but forget the specifics.

i have been a fan, in general, and almost joined techshop a couple diff times over the years.

i know some libraries started opening shops.

and i think techshop itself went kaput.

phoenix has a shop i prob would have at least checked out more, but covid.
