Seemed relevant with the news about Apple scanning for child sexual abuse images on user devices. A gray area even in the US, I found Canada particularly notable, since their law makes no distinction between cartoons, and images of real child abuse:

The definitive Supreme Court of Canada decision, R. v. Sharpe, interprets the statute to include purely fictional material even when no real children were involved in its production.

There seems to be some leeway in the US. For example, Stephen King's book It has a very descriptive sex scene amongst a group of children which even gets into differences in penis size and how each of them responds to orgasm differently. That chapter suggests that is what "It" is. Needless to say the scene is completely omitted from both versions of the movie.
