So… JIT doesn’t actually improve performance. Nor does virtual DOM. What next? It seems like web browsers and frameworks are full of this cargo cult magic that doesn’t actually work, but must be used because everything else is built on top of it. When can we call this interpreted DOM experiment over and go back to compiled programs on a window API? It seems we’re headed there anyway with WebASM and WebGL, but every program has to carry its own UI services, kind of like video games in DOS, which is also right about where performance is today too.
