A bit misleading: He didn't actually build the lasers, but ripped them out of other 2nd-hand equipment. Damn, I was hoping for actual plans for building an actual laser, not just cobbling 4 of them together with a power supply and some hardware.
To be clear, Styropyro is an expert in lasers and knows what he's doing. He's not just hacking things together for fun like an idiot.
I still believe such a system could be an insanely dangerous weapon. A laser with enough accuracy, enough strength, some AI eye-detection and then used for auto-blinding demonstrators or troops. Even worse on a drone. I don't which range with which accuracy and strength is possible. Any idea?
The US signed a treaty banning this weaponry, but they where developing versions for air combat suggesting very long ranges where considered viable. As a weapon system it’s got many issues, but I am not going to say they where insurmountable.
For that reason, laser blinding weapons are banned by international treaty.
