Biophilia Hypothesis

People like plants and animals.

I made photo collection sites of creative commons images back when creative commons was a new idea. "Animal photos" played the best with people.

I ran with a pack of dogs when I was a kid and when I have been at rock bottom and thought about why I like being here experiences with animals, be that my cats or the battle I have against the beavers to keep my driveway from being flooded out, or other experiences with birds and wild animals are always meaningful to me. My wife teaches kids to ride horses.

Gardening is another widespread interest and even people who don't do that appreciate flowers, landscaping, etc. (Who doesn't like the queen's gardens in London?)

I suspect there's a connection with Wiccans, given their nature rituals and totem animals.
