My first answer to "why do we need alternative app stores and sideloading on iOS" is always NewPipe.
You can't watch age gated content on newpipe, ime. Throws an error.
I currently don't have NewPipe installed but from I remember age restricted videos are hidden by default. Go to settings and toggle show age restricted videos to see them.
I have had this feature enabled. Age restricted videos don't load.
