Sometimes the solution is to get rid of the problem. Take tobacco for instance.

May not be true of cars, but I'm pretty bitter about the unhealthy car-centric societies that 100 years of auto lobbying has left us with.

Arguably a safer alternative to smoking could be part of a solution too.

The issue that there is no single solution to cars, and the problem is indeed cars. So unless you mean "Don't be anti cars, instead be pro-everything-else in a way that is detrimental to car operation", I have to disagree.

Okay, I am for making most cities pedestrian and bike-only zones with exceptions for delivery vehicles and carefully isolated motor vehicle routes.

Agreed. Anyone can point out a problem, some can be "pro solution", and very few actually solve problems. Unfortunate reality of the world.
