More awareness is needed. If implementation details such as rounding mode, CPU features, etc.. are pinned down there is little reason not to write tests that are meant to be accurate to the last bit. Instead of the awkward "near enough" approach.
These people are certainly annoying, but the worst that they can do is to cautiously avoid floats, which does not really harm anybody. More dangerous are those that treat floats as if they were real numbers, thus creating chaos in their wake.
