Looks like it is an alternative to paying the flat 10k? I don't understand the outragey tone of the article.
If that person today decides they want an FSD subscription, they now need to pay an additional 1500 since the computer originally installed and advertised as FSD capable, is infact not capable of FSD.
However, if they want to pay 10k outright, no subscription, for FSD, then the upgrade of that computer, again, that was originally advertised as being able to do FSD, but actually couldn't, is free.
It's rather distressing that such blatant false advertising is allowed to exist.

I get Elon is optimistic and tries to push his team but it went over the line a while ago in my opinion. Many laypeople are still being duped by this stuff.
Thats around $2400 a year so you would exceed the current price of FSD at around 4 years or so. It is better than locking it out perpetually but still feels strange car manufacturers are allowed to do this.
