While I probably would have killed for listings like this for the titles I worked on (Defender wasn't one of them, btw), it's quite possible that not having the technical help meant that we wound up doing a better job on our versions because we had to get a good feel for the original one.
He played at such a fast pace I couldn’t even see what was happening, it seemed superhuman lol.
Where can I find the 6809 ports of Windows and Linux, or am I missing something?

The post then says:

If I wanted to run this on an emulator, surely the assembled code would be identical, but the use of the word "also" suggests they are doing something else here.
