Mildly related: On the non engineering side I see lots of hiring managers who came from a different industry than their current employer and yet are adamant that candidates have years in the industry on on the tool stack (Salesforce or Tableau for instance).

Most industries, let alone tools, don't take that long to learn, and business acumen isn't industry-specific.
