User guide and service manuals should be a legal requirement to sell a product, and exempt from copyright.

I think there is a happy middle ground where they are still required to be easily provided.

I'm thinking about avoiding situations such as when huawei used to provide copied Nortel manuals for their knockoff/IP-theft equipment.
