Gettr – The Marketplace of Ideas

The first thing I clicked on, it took me to someone promoting hydroxychloroquine for COVID treatment. I must say I am not impressed.

It looks like it even predating by direct linking/scraping the original platforms (Twitter/FoxNews/Skynews/..). For sake of curiosity - looked around.

It will be interesting to see if the same people who revealed their true identities on parlor, don’t make the same mistake of revealing their true identities on this one. It should be common knowledge by now that you should never use your real name or anything that can point to you on the Internet.

I tried to access this on mobile, and it just bugged me with a recurring banner telling me to use the app. No information about what this website/service is about. No clear links to such information.

For context: this is the social networking platform started by the Trump team: https://www.politico.com/news/2021/07/01/gettr-trump-social-...

From the meta-description: "GETTR is a non-bias social network for people all over the world." So at the very least, their copywriting needs some work.

Heads up: This is a new social network created by the Trump’s former senior adviser, Jason Miller who has quirely launched a new conservative social network after all the other ones unceremoniously (rightfully) died.

"The site, called GETTR, advertised its mission statement as “fighting cancel culture, promoting common sense, defending free speech, challenging social media monopolies, and creating a true marketplace of ideas.”" (4)

> Miller has for months teased the Trump team's plans to start a new social media platform, after the former president was blocked by a slew of sites following the Jan. 6 riot where his supporters stormed the Capitol. However, Trump does not have a verified account on GETTR. (2)

> Miller told Fox News in an interview that he hoped Trump would join but that the former president was considering a number of options. He said Trump was not funding the platform. (2)
