Copilot has an obvious security bug on its landing page code example

Exactly. Has to take another human like the author to review that dangerous StackOverFlow code generated from Copilot. (Hence the name)
The stories and tales of AI replacing humans in this profession of programming has been 'greatly exaggerated' on this site. Especially when for one of the fanatics and early adopters, it took around one in ten times to get it right. [0] While I'm never expecting 'perfect', 'ten times' really is less than average when you can write it yourself anyway. Even then, you probably have to review the generated code yourself regardless.
It's more going to be 'assistive' than 'replacing'. For now. Just like all the other 'AI' projects out there.
Long way to go, AI Doomsayers.
