Metatag generator: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claris_Home_Page - I expected Frontpage, but it's something different, never heard of it.

Significance? Simply, retro computing?

It's just the site is really old but still up. Kind of neat.

I'm tempted to buy something from them, just to see what they still have available...

They were selling old stock as recently as 10 years ago or so. But there's no inventory left now. People say you can still talk to the owner if you call the number on the site.

The relative impact of these upgrades is seriously impressive: install a FPU or upgrade your CPU Cache.

The prices seem very reasonable even accounting for inflation.

The search CGI script is broken :[

Even 20 years ago, $200 for a PCI IDE card (unless there's something very Apple-specific about it) seems extremely overpriced. They are around 1/10th of that price now.

Of course now they're cheap. What was a typical price back then?

I don't remember exactly, but it was definitely less than $100.

AFAICR, the feature one had to pay for was ROM containing PowerPC code. It made Apple-compatible PCI cards much more expensive than x86-compatible. Especially video.
