Sure, past 7 days. But what about next 7 days? ;)

That's a good idea! Thanks.

Haha, well with AI and the world we live in, anything is possible! :D

Thanks for the feedback!

Just create an excel sheet and type

    =RANDOM(30000,60000)

Haha!

Sorry, but it should be:

    =RANDBETWEEN(30000, 60000)

(or randarray!)

Haha funny.

Hey HackerNews!

I'm a web developer and I developed, BitcoinTemp, a site which allows users to check how Bitcoin is performing. The prices are portrayed like a weather forecast, with some days being sunny and others being storms.

I created the site with the help of my friend, Josh Ternyak, as a way to celebrate countries starting to adopt Bitcoin as an official currency.

Feel free to leave a comment with any feedback on how I can improve the website. Thank you!

please make it appear on my win 10 taskbar right besides my city temperature

Okay lol!

When can we expect golf ball size hailstones?

The weather does indeed change with the volatility of bitcoin. Come back on a day when bitcoin crashes to see for yourself.

I have to wonder if you've already programmed in some Biblical flooding and what the threshold for that would be.

The green ones are impossible for me to read. Light green text on light green background.

Great feedback! I'll update the site's green color.

I love this. Most crypto price interfaces are super complex and this is a nice simple take on it! Please keep in-mind that my critiques/feature requests are because I actually really like this =)

Piggy-backing... Contrast as a whole needs some adjustment - keep in mind that people's light situations drastically will affect (effect? hell I don't know) how readable text on a background is. I have a window behind my most used monitor which sometimes causes issues with light text on light backgrounds, or dark text on dark backgrounds. There's also color blindness, age-related issues, and many other situations in-which you will want more contrast than what has been implemented here. This is very low-contrast, and I think it wouldn't detract from the "clean look" by swapping some of your white/off-white text out with black/near-black/navy equivalents, and I promise you it will make this software accessible to more folks!

I also would love to see a general "cryptotemp" solution that allows this same thing for different currency pairs. ex: "https://cryptotemp.com/ETH-USD"

Great solution. Bookmarked. Sorry to nitpick!!!

Great feedback. Thanks so much!

Is it possible to view a longer time horizon than 1 week?

Not currently, but I might add that feature.

Hmm, didn't fully consider that. Coindesk’s API let’s you go back 31 days at the max.

I’ll look into adding that. Thanks for the feedback!

Coingecko api has historical price lookups going back years and it is free to use. It would be cool to see a historical weather report.

I agree. Thanks!

I like the UI. It’s truly refreshing. Cool stuff

Thanks! I appreciate it.

Thanks so much!

Is this Opensource ?

No not currently. Do you want access to the source code?

Yes. I can see this being used for other financial instruments. For example, daily variations of GME could be visualized in this manner.

lol!
