Young and old Chinese seem to fall out of love with the Western dream

"The proportion of respondents who saw them as equals was six percentage points lower than it was in a similar poll conducted in 2016, while the percentage who “looked up to” the West was 30 points lower."

I think that as long as life is improving over there for the majority, the ratings will stay positive. Add the "cultural war" and its propaganda on both sides and you have the perfect ground for feeling of "cultural superiority" on both sides.
