Less code correlates with better performance (responsiveness, battery life, bug rate, etc). Running through multiple layers of indirection prevents us from reaping the full benefits of a pocket supercomputer. Nobody knows what they're missing out on because every platform does it.

You will have to

1. Inform users what they are missing out 2. Instill a culture of performance first over features in software dev shops.

The financial incentives of doing these are not very compelling.

Also funny when people looks at a website and then complain about why the developers would do this. They did it because that's what they get paid for.

Hardly any of the apps on my Moto G5+ run at a speed acceptable to this end user.

You have to ask what is the motivation to keep apps responsive. If the app runs without crashing, nobody cares.
