My advice would be that if you cannot give full support to linux, at least be open about your software. The linux community is very good at getting things working. They can figure most problems out for themselves, but only if they have some information to work with. Toss them some documentation, anything, and 99% of the time they will come up with a solution on their own.
Except DRM. Attach DRM or anti-cheat to your project, software that actively doesn't want to run on anything but a specific OS, and the linux community will turn on you.
