Samsung with AMD mRDNA 2 in July; Google signing up for mRDNA 2 as well

Meanwhile the hactivists have almost freed ARM's proprietary gpu from the shackles it's been kept in & are close to having phones that can (when bootloaders can be unlocked) run regular Linux OSes. Pinephone is pioneering how to control cellular modems. We are so close to having pocket sized computers that can run a choice of operating systems.

The timing here, of phones that might run the existing, well supported, well documented open source driver, is a happy coincidence. Hopefully we see devices emerge with unlocked bootloaders that permit some evolution.
