Saying Goodbye to Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Tangentially, there are parts of Honeycomb I miss, like a coherent task manager that actually killed app processes when I asked it to, being able to easily root my device with no real downsides, etc.
I'm not sure I believe all these 0.0% usage stats for all mildly old versions. I lent my spare Android 2.2 phone to someone just a couple months ago.
A quick Google search suggests there's about 2.5 billion android users. 0.05% of those users (i.e. a rounding error) is still 1.25 million users, so plenty of room for people to still be using old versions but not show up in proportional usage estimates.

I miss the old internet. Thanks to you and James for being a huge part of my childhood!
And Technomancy remains at the forefront of my mind too :)
That’s before considering the lack of software support. Most websites today probably won’t even load correctly with its web browser (a browser that didn’t support most web standards even just after release).
It’s just time to let it go.
I remember hating that about android development. It was like desktop OS and browsers but with the added dimension of the manufacturer not caring.
Also if you want a good Vulkan experience, better care only about Samsung and Google devices and ignore everything else.
Ever since I saw Minecraft running on Windows 98 a few years back I've sort of had an obsession with running things on obscenely outdated systems (that and I've a distaste for the bloatedness of modern programs) Minecraft is sort of lucky though as it's running on Java (although it still requires at least some modding effort to get it to run these days)
My personal "support even if it's a bit insane" programming bracket goes back to Windows XP because it's my favourite and I was pretty upset when MS discontinued it. (Especially with Windows 8 just released)
