Apple CEO Tim Cook: Sideloading Apps Would 'Destroy the Security' of the iPhone

It does occur to me to wonder… If I launch a computer device that is ultra-secure, with a tightly-regulated sandbox, would they demand that I support less-secure services? Do they demand that all devices provide support for side-loading?
Am I to be denied the choice of a device made more secure by virtue of its review systems, sandboxes, and other limitations?
Some will say “well just don’t sideload and it’ll be the same,” disregarding that while I myself would abide by that rule, I can’t make the same claim for my mother, who manages to stumble her way into infinite computer trouble. Putting her on an iPad has been a godsend from my POV.
Here’s what I’d like to see: in exchange for store monopoly, a guarantee of security and a limitation on commission rates. Apple’s control over the APIs and developer tools makes me think code analysis can prevent a lot of shenanigans. Hold them to it, and let us have the option of using a secure platform.
