This has nothing to do with religious institutes and everything to do with a fundamental claim of the religious.
Reading your post here, I take it you believe the bible is from god or a higher authority. Do you ever question that belief?

Buddhism, for one, would not only accept that someone but would say it loud and clear on its own.
When someone says "I don't believe in karma, rebirth, or the teachings of Buddha" are you talking about a Buddhist? What makes a Buddhist if not at least some belief in some of the Buddhist teachings and beliefs. (Granted, the notion of the "sacred" doesn't really exist in Buddhism like it does in abrahamic religions).
