Ask HN: Large customer wants us to deploy SaaS on their own K8s?
Recently we've been working with this large customer that operates 3000+ shops across the country, and they vehemently oppose both the cloud and our own bare metal. They offer their own VM servers and a very old k8s (1.14) which we won't have access to. There is a web interface through some cryptic UI that only works on a laptop they provide. It doesn't support YAML upload so we have to click our way through tens of services, stateful sets, ingresses and such, I guess, to leave an audit trail. It's been very frustrating. Of course, they will still hold us to the SLA in case something breaks, but it will take us much more time to debug everything through this UI on an outdated k8s...
How often do you see something like this? Any workaround besides not working with the customer?
