Only 100 km up, no orbit. Kind of neat and I wouldn't turn down a chance to do it, but travel to space to me means something quite different than this.

Reading your comment prompted me to search 'where does "space" begin' and I learned of the Kármán Line: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kármán_line

Sounds appropriate for New Shepard

I don't understand why a person would risk their life. Why not first establish a series of successful flights without humans first, and then with humans?

New Shepard has flown 14 times successfully without any failures. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Shepard#Full_flight_list

Won't find me getting into any dangerous vehicles that have only been tested 14 times!

Heh, I wonder if his CEO insurance policy(ies?) forbid activities such as this, but Chairman has no such restrictions

Not sure about insurance but I think it is not a coincidence that he does this after stepping down as CEO

If a horrible accident occurs, will the rate of descent of the wreckage exceed the rate of descent of Amazon’s stock price?

He's not CEO, I don't see what it will change other than kneejerk reactions and news-bot trading.

infact, other than antidemocratic messagin increasing, very little will change about amazons profit taking culture.
