We judge yesterday comments with todays' eyes. But todays compliant messages will be judged by tomorrows eyes.
Values and the fine line between morally good and bad are not static in time.
I'm not a huge fan of the hugely judgemental or jumping to conclusions throwing people under the bus culture that exists on the internet either. I've helped steward trans-pride marches where you've had a bunch of uni students threaten trans women for having certain hairstyles and seen just how fucking stupid it can get, but I ask any free thinking right minded person to be real sceptical of articles like this that seem innocuous and libertarian but have a simmering, underlying vibe of right-wing shit. Remember that "war on woke" was a Conservative slogan by our current UK government.

I'm not a liberal, and i think transversal warfare/fight, while needed, are nothing but a distraction for the working class (caveat: if we indeed lost the class warfare as Warren Buffet suggested, transversal warfare is the only fight left. I don't believe so.)
But this "cancel culture" and all this "woke" are just liberals finally using the tools the far right used. They exploded the overton window, and look what this got us: feminicides are not classed as passion murders but as real homicides, with the prison sentence that come with it. Gay marriage. Oh, and new historical figures we did forgot (in France): Toussaint Louverture, and also the less forgotten Henri Grégoire was discussed at length this year in class, while before only history nerds (like me) were aware of this figurehead of the french revolution.
No, honestly, i disagree with this strategy, but it is working, as the far right showed us in the last decade. But if you're complaining, complain to the one that used this formula in politics first. Else this is just plain hypocrisy.
