The idea is to have one place to communicate with all your contacts on various platforms. You can send and receive messages to your contacts on Facebook, Twitter, Slack, Telegram, etc. all as if you're sending a text to one of your phone contacts without needing to install an app (it also works with old feature phones.) Once you connect your various accounts a list of new contacts is sent to your phone to add to your existing contacts. This includes your friends' avatars and an icon in the bottom right corner to indicate which social media platform they're from.
This is implemented on top of Matrix, using modified bridges to push messages to the backend server.
We would love to receive any feedback and possible ways to improve this. Currently you must login or provide your cookies to different platforms to use this service. This is a major downside that we're working on fixing, any suggestions would be welcome.
Is this something you would use? What are some of the use cases you can think of (personal/professional)?
