I live in the same County it happened. The 14 yr old girl is known to law enforcement. She and the 12 yr old escaped a center for trouble kids. She has harmed animals and set property on fire in the past according to the news reports.

These "kids" were being sought for 1/2 the day because the young one is insulin dependent. The cops caught up to them at this specific house because a neighbor walking by heard glass breaking and called it in. Cops called the home owner asking if anyone was home, homeowner said no but that there were weapons and ammunition in the house.

I give the cops a lot of credit, they tried hard it seems to get these kids out peacefully. But they shot the 14 yr old cause she leveled a gun at the cops in close quarters, in the garage. They shot her and then helped to save her life, pretty incredible and had to be hard.
