Is this even remotely plausible and useful, or are we just fooling ourselves? It seems to me that the winner of the digital economy will be the country with the lowest tax burden, not just in rates, but mostly cost and complication of financial compliance. It’s very telling when CFOs become more than a minor accessory to a business. That means that the business is thinking about taxes more than they think about delivering value. Imagine the growth advantage that a simplified tax country would have.
Consequently they will have a financial conflict of interest when it comes to covering stories relevant to which political world view - left wing or capitalist - gains credence.
It is owned by a company structured like a non-profit trust, so it doesn't even have shareholders to offer meager pushback against the political agenda of its unionized workforce:
