If we look at our visits to the ocean depths, we only leave real time traces of our presence.
Assuming we aren’t the aliens and that aliens didn’t seed our planet with life, then if they did visit they didn’t find it compelling enough to stay for very long.
Perhaps we will detect the traces of alien life by what they discard, which is what some suggested 'Oumuamua could be.
