Reminds me of when I was tinkering with a little laser DLP/LCoS projector. I didn't have laser protective glasses, but I wanted to observe the open internal optical path of the projector, which probably had several watts of laser diodes in it, so I got a big cardboard shield, cut a little window, and sealed an iPad to it to watch the projector through the camera.
The iPad camera doesn't show any signs of damage so far, but it was not exposed to the direct beam path of the laser I suppose. I watched it for about a minute or so this way, and recorded a video of the little scanning lens in it with the 240fps feature.
On the other hand, this was a projector, so I'd assume the laser output can't be TOO dangerous, else the projected output would be hazardous to view.
