The end of the Dollar as world reserve currency

The news is naturally geared towards impact events, like school shootings. It has a much harder time with slow, glacial change. It makes no sense to have a headline that, "Global warming continued today."

But sometimes that change is the big news and better explains many of the impact events. Were the news to report this kind of change, possibly the biggest headline these days would be, "The Death of the Petrodollar." It brings with it the end of US hegemony and a whole tidal wave of changes.
