Why workers are calling BS on leaders about returning to the office

Most workers want to do a good job. Give them a task and the resources and they will do it. No bossing required. WFH has proven that most managers are value detractors. They are terrified that if workers don't return to the office it will become ever more evident that they are a drag on productivity.
Working from home gave me 2 hours back that I lost from travel to and from the office. I was able to invest a bit of that time into improving my processes and knowledge. This made me happier.
I noticed a number of other things contributed to my wellbeing while working from home:
I ate healthier (less eating out / fastfood). I did more exercise (knowing I need to exercise if stuck at home). I have better equipment at home than I have in my office. I get interrupted less. I saved money. I have kids and see them more, this is very important to me.
After people started to return to work in the office, I felt quite drained going back. I do go into the office again but much less than average person.
So far no one has complained with my intermittent WFH schedule. I tend to feel guilty at times the biggest downside of not being in the office is feeling like an outsider.
