I got burned by this, watching a multi-season TV series and as of 7/1, it was no longer available. This was not popular with the rest of the household.
Thanks for that link, very helpful.
Boo.
(I recently watched halfway through something, then got busy for a couple of weeks. I returned to find I could no longer stream the rest.
At a minimum, if there is an expiration date, it should be there prominently on the title's page, so that the viewer is aware of this going in.
Netflix, you need to reconsider who your customers are. If it's big media, just let me know and I'll drop my subscription.
They're classics. I can't wait for ToS to arrive :-)

Sounds like you're watching season 1 lol. TNG didn't really pick up until about half way through season 2.At any rate, TOS is on there already - everything but DS9 is (DS9 arrives in October, IIRC)
All 79 episodes of ST:ToS are available at this page on startrek.com (a CBS site):

I'd happily have paid some money for them if I could (though I admittedly wouldn't tolerate the terms of netflix myself).
The dvds are £122 for the full set on Amazon - that's £0.69 per episode. Slightly pricey imo. I'd happily have paid £0.30 per episode though. Certainly not interested in paying £122 up front (I didn't know if I'd actually get through them all!) and I dislike having the actual physical dvds.
I’m always a bit confused, though, about Americans being so willing to torrent. I thought the costs if you are caught are crippling in the US – basically life destroying? I don’t think I would want to risk that but maybe I’m just misinformed.
What I'd like to see tested in court: we can record things on t.v. with a VCR for a private version, right? Could we record what Netflix displays, in this case TNG? Is this any different from torrenting a copy of the content, instead of recording, if you have a Netflix subscription?
I was just expressing how I feel about the situation. Even though it's trivially easy for me to get it for free, I'd be willing to pay for it - I personally find that interesting.
That's 1.10 USD for 40+ minutes of solid entertainment. 3 minutes MP3 songs are typically 99 cents. Methinks you're being cheap.
In 5 more years, it'll be even cheaper.
In 5 more years after that, perhaps it'll come free with breakfast cereal.
If copyright terms hadn't have been extended ridiculously it would have been in the public domain for several years already - but that's a different matter.
My point is I wouldn't have thought twice about spending a little less than that per episode. Perhaps I am cheap.
Last I checked the TiVo guide wasn't updated with the info on Netflix availability, so I couldn't access them that way either. Was really looking forward to switching to this over the recorded from TV version that WGN plays at 2 am or whenever, but they were just started season 5.
I understand TNG was shot on film but composited digitally in SD, so HD-quality episodes are much more difficult.
GRRR.
There need to be more women out in the real world like her. Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero-One.
I think you will have more luck with the ladies if you don't expect them to be sexy robots, and likewise, they should not expect you to be the medical hologram, or Data.
