Clearly what is needed are remote controlled vacuum cleaners where an operator can take control when the vacuum stumbles upon imaginery cliffs. Maybe one day we could have people directly manipulate vacuum cleaners in physical space.
Ha! I did try using the remote control (both in app and infrared) but the unit refused to move into "danger". Thereby fulfilling at least one of Asimov's laws.
