The rocks are not mysterious. NASA is just planning to figure out if the nearby rocks are volcanic or sedimentary. They don't know yet because they have not begun performing the necessary tests.
Sounds like perseverance is settling in to start focusing on the important (but really boring) tasks of its mission. The rocks sound interesting and hopefully they’re the first of many! Can’t wait to follow it as it discovers more cool things about Mars.
