Clubhouse Android Public Beta

Launched the Android app two months late. When everyone has already uninstalled the iOS app and their competitors have already released clones and features faster and copied them to death, after all of this Android is now only available in the US.
Had they released both at the same time last year, perhaps they would have had a chance. But even then, the invite system is still there 1 year on.
> “Our plan over the next few weeks is to collect feedback from the community, fix any issues we see and work to add a few final features like payments and club creation before rolling it out more broadly,”
And all the final features are still not feature complete with iOS. Android users are really always last supported unfortunately.
> "As we head into the summer and continue to scale out the backend, we plan to begin opening up even further, welcoming millions more people in from the iOS waitlist, expanding language support, and adding more accessibility features, so that people worldwide can experience Clubhouse in a way that feels native to them"
On the looks of the AppMagic data, invite system, competitors and the pandemic nearing to being over, by the summer they would have even less users and probably one more major competitor will be the one to send the final nail in Clubhouse's coffin.
I would argue more like 5-7 months late. I heard the Clubhouse hype back in Aug / Sept, and the peak according to Google Trends was at the beginning of February. Their ultra exclusive marketing tricks were cute, but I think we'll that they were a bad decision in the long run. Twitter will eat their lunch.
Had they released both at the same time last year, perhaps they would have had a chance. Now all their competitors including Twitter are eating their lunch.
Should have released both iOS and Android on launch then.
My take: If you think twitter is hot garbage, you'll be shocked at clubhouse. This is exactly why it got the funding.
More seriously: its a video forum where people like Elon Musk can invite Vladimir Putin to have conversations... Isn't that neat.
That would actually be neat if it would actually be a conversation.
The problem is that people don’t seem to want to have conversations these days so it would turn out more like Jerry Springer and less like Larry King.
