I read this differently. I read this as 'Rich Billionaire above the 4th estate'
How is the owner of the Washington Post any less a part of the 4th Estate than the tabloids in question?
Affairs and divorces aren't news, but politics is. I'm not surprised that a slimy tabloid under investigation for Trump-related shenanigans might get the worse end of this deal. And despite the language in the article, Jeff Bezos certainly didn't need to be some sort of PR god to come up with the response that his team did.
Is "A man has fuck-off money in spades" an untold story?
I guess the lesson of this and Gawker is: Don’t mess with the personal lives of billionaires. If you piss them off enough, they have the resources to cause a media organization a world of pain.
