Humanity Does Not Need Bill Gates

I suppose the "answer" to this critique (billionaire bad, basically) is that the world should make billionaire-ing illegal. But how do you do that without having a central authority determine the maximal value of anything? And who will police this hypothetical central authority from skimming profits from companies/people whose value is held back by them?

People with a lot of money have a lot of power. I'm okay with people like Gates at least trying to use their money to improve the world in a big way over people who squander their outsized wealth while also foot-stomping people beneath them.
