Ask HN: What happened to xip.io and what would be suitable alternatives?

It seems like xip.io stopped existing without any announcements at least to me. The URL responds with ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED.

Was there any announcements, and what would be good alternatives?

No announcement that I'm aware of, but I've used https://nip.io in a pinch before and haven't encountered any issues. Like xip.io, it supports IPv4 only and uses PowerDNS.

thx, also switched now to nip.io as well.

Xip.io is (was?) provided by Basecamp. In light of recent events, I suppose the person left.
