Arundhati Roy: ‘We are witnessing a crime against humanity’

Most upwardly mobile, educated Indians I know are trying to move out of the country as it slowly descends into the medieval hell it wants to be. The ruling dispensation has deep roots in western countries through the diaspora that funds its regressive initiatives.
It's hell right now in India and the international press is covering but a small slice of it.
The number of cases per ten thousand is still way far behind the US, EU and the rest of the world.
In sheer numbers, India will always have large figures.
Not sure what's the point of this reply. As a physician, do you think that people aren't pouring freakin' cow piss down COVID patients' throats, hence that the videos are faked - or do you mean that you expect cow piss to be an effective treatment for COVID? These are the only ways I could make sense of your reply.
In the US, people are pouring freaking bleach down people's throats and even the PRESIDENT of the United States went on his press to advocate that.
So spare me your indignation. I was objecting to the statement that the 'the administration truly believes that cow urine is the cure.'
Also, the second wave is always more deadly than the first.
When total lockdown was imposed, the entire western media decried it all, and due to political pressure, the lockdown was removed...
Hence the consequence.
Instead of all self praise and putting the guard down too quick, govt had an year of time and multiple warnings to ramp up everything which they all ignored. This is the result of all the ministers wasting their time in campaigns and rallies rather than monitoring the deadly pandemic.
Chennai High court called Election Commision of India Murderous, for allowing these rallies to happen.
PM instead of being responsible person personally went in for campaigns.
Also look at how they are handling the criticism by passing laws against sharing of criticism on social media and also by deleting the content on those sites.
You are talking about elections, election commission, over which the government has no authority.
What laws were exactly passed against sharing of criticism? Can you link to them?
- Casually accepting racism against India from the Washington Post? Check.
- Expecting first world facilities in a third world country? Check.
- Para after para of beautifully written tragedy porn? Check.
- Deliberately misrepresenting the CAA without mentioning the 1947 Nehru-Gandhi promise to the wretched non-Muslim minorities of Pakistan about their always having a home in India? How dare Hindus and Sikhs whose teenage daughters were forcibly converted to Islam and married off to decrepit old men in Pakistan come seeking asylum to their original homeland. Go back you dirty scum! Don't you see we are more concerned about Rohingya Muslims from Burma? Check.
- Referring to the RSS as a fascist organization while previously having celebrating terrorists as "Gandhians with guns"? Check.
- Barely concealed hatred for the man who united India: Vallabhbhai Patel? Check.
- Referring to the Delhi riots as an anti-Muslim pogrom while her friends in academia and the anti-Modi media prevented a publisher from publishing a book on the riot?[1] Check.
- The Kumbh mela only exists "so that millions of Hindu pilgrims could crowd together in a small town to bathe in the Ganges and spread the virus even-handedly as they returned to their homes across the country."
- Talking about the West Bengal elections without talking about how incredibly violent the naxals, communists and socialists have been in the state for the last 50 years? Check.
- The narrative for West Bengal is already ready. If the BJP wins, it did it over the corpses of thousands. if it loses, it is because West Bengal rejected communal politics.
- Lying about SII and Bharat Biotech vaccines being some of the most expensive in the world purely because the companies are Indian?[2] Check.
- Mentioning the Gujarat riots of 2002 while downplaying the murder of Hindus as well as the original trigger: 59 Hindu pilgrims including 27 women and 10 children locked inside train compartments and burnt alive by a bloodthirsty 2000-strong Muslim mob? Check.
Like I said, Roy is a great read. If you want to create a Modi voter, all you have to do point this person to her writings. And then show them the truth.

* Pfizer and BioNTech: $14.71 (12 euro)

What truths has she pointed out, exactly? Her screed is less about the covid pandemic and more about her virulent hate of India, Hindus and Modi. And it is riddled with both lies of omission as well as those of commission.
The anti-Modi axis within India and without cannot contain its glee on seeing bodies piling up in India. Every single agitation, protest and riot they manufactured to unseat Modi has failed. This time, it will work, they believe. They are wrong. Then we have Rahul Gandhi of the Congress, who is unable to win elections on his own merit, explicitly calling for US intervention in Indian politics.[1] Just like the Mughals did by inviting Ahmed Shah Abdali/Durrani to invade India and protect them from the Maratha Empire.

Your Rahul Gandhi comparision reminds me of how people made fun of Biden being a senile old man compared to Trump. Its the failures of society if they have to choose between two bad choices. And you are to be blamed for it too.
Go stand near the families of the dead, you would hear the same sentences of anger and sadness.
This "human" who has his own cult, can't even handle criticism, when was the last time he took questions? Oh, Never, 0 press conferences in 7 years. He is a weak leader who rides on PR and lies.
If you objectively followed the news, you wouldn't say that.
> He failed, everything he starts with much fanfare, dies after the fanfare music stops with no outcome.
I agree. That is what happens when you start worshiping the permanent bureaucracy instead of whipping them into shape.
I would still pick him over Gandhi because the latter is far worse.
Our country was never structured to be a duopoly of parties, we could have 28 regional parties elect a PM from among them, a PM who is answerable to all states, a PM who works with credibility to bring justice to all. Rather than two bad choices.
> Have we seen him as a PM yet? Or at least as a CM?
The Congress was in power at the center for 10 years: 2004-2014. And it has been in control of multiple state governments since forever. So whose fault is it that he cannot even manage to become the CM of a state?
> borderline dictator
Calling someone who the people have elected with massive majorities twice in a row a "dictator" is nothing but propaganda. If Modi loses in an election and appoints himself Emperor of India, like Indira did, then we can think about using that term.
> we could have 28 regional parties elect a PM from among them
Never going to happen, because people don't want that.
The situation right now is, after 70 years of terrible economic policies and government-funded Hinduphobic policies, people woke up and started voting for the BJP across caste and linguistic lines. Outside of a couple of states, the only thing driving unnatural alliances between political parties is opposition to the BJP. Even today, I can guarantee that if Mamata falls a few seats short in the Bengal elections, the Congress will rush to her defense.
The problem with Modi is, he is slowly converting the BJP into another version of the Congress Party. And his reliance on the incompetent and corrupt IAS bureaucracy is nullifying his promises to his electorate.
- demands azaadi for Kashmir
- supports terrorists in Kashmir and the red corridor
- openly talks about breaking up India into a thousand pieces
- would have no qualms in destroying India, Indian businesses and the Indian people in their quest to destroy Modi
is anti-national. Abraham Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus and went to war against secessionists. Why should Modi keep quiet and let these criminals burn India down?
The problem with Indian people is that they have been so thoroughly brainwashed by the Fabian socialists who ran the school system and the media that most of them can no longer think for themselves. This is how a genocidal maniac by the name of Ashoka became our national hero and we proudly call him "Great." [1] And Bakhtiyar Khalji, who burnt Nalanda University to the ground, is honored by naming a town after him.[2]
> What do you call a person who jails his critics.
Who has Modi jailed for criticizing him?
> Calls them anti-national for showing his mistakes?
Any examples?

Yogi adityanath jailing a doctor a while ago when O2 systems collapsed in a hospital.
Sedition cases against journalists. Anyways I feel they dont matter to you, because all you are doing is whataboutism, and ignoring Modi's failures and drawbacks as if he is some kind of God. I'm talkin about his critics and your are selective making statements from people who are commonly anti social elements.
It means a lot. But I understand the rakshasa mentality of using dead bodies as a political weapon.

These people have prominent defenders in the judiciary, academia and Indophobic media. Nothing will happen to them.
> I'm talkin about his critics
His so-called critics provide covering fire to these so-called "anti social" elements.
> ignoring Modi's failures and drawbacks as if he is some kind of God.
I guess you didn't read my previous comments where I criticize his mode of governance.
Modi and his ministers are so incompetent when it comes to media management that they actively promote their biggest critics and disregard their biggest supporters. This is exactly what Trump did. And this is exactly why his enemies managed to push him out even after he massively increased his vote share.
