I enjoyed this essay. It’s interesting to see how media can mold society’s expectations of self.

I believe she could find a partner who loves the journey and is not only looking for the destination.

It's also interesting to see how society itself can mold expectations of self. If you are too different, there will be people to bend you back or destroy you, as many of us experienced since childhood.

Kind of my take as well, I liked the honest self appraisal.

The author muses about this possibility in the last few paragraphs, but seems to dismiss it without further analysis.

You can have sexual pleasure without orgasm

But "delicious-and-then-unbearable sensation" sounds like an orgasm to me. Perhaps she was expecting too much? But really, god knows what.

"delicious-and-then-unbearable sensation" sounds just like before orgasm when you can't have orgasm. Happens simetimes even to those with penis.

Sounds more like the before and after of having an orgasm (for those of us with a penis)

From my non-expert perspective, it seems like one of the primary functions of orgasm is to immobilize the male in order to maximize deposition of sperm. If so then evolution doesn’t really select for female orgasms if it doesn’t increase breeding success. Has there been any studies on this though?

Lots of other ways of doing that. But speaking as a male can't remember being immobilised much; rather the reverse.
