Literally pictures of trash?

lol I appreciate their packaging but this is still pretty funny

I've seen empty Apple packaging before.

Reminds me a little bit of Shrine of Apple, which was a collection of photographs of Apple products. The collection has been taken down and replaced by information about the photographer's book[1], but the site has been archived with a lot of the pictures[2].

Awesome links. Here is a contrast to that exhibit. It's a video since I can't for the life of me find a catalog of the exhibit. https://spectrumnews1.com/wi/madison/human-interest/2020/02/...

Thanks for the link, that was really interesting! It's too bad it's over, because that was only an hour away from me. It's got me thinking; I think I saw my (soon to be former) cell phone in one of those piles. Found more info and pictures on the artist's site: https://nathanielstern.com/artwork/phossils/

New iphone with packaging for just $50 extra (we don't give packaging anymore since its bad for the environment)

I've literally sold empty iPhone X box for $20 while struggled to sell a crib.

Also my toddler totally loves playing with Airpods Pro box. I was joking Apple is so addictive even with packaging.

One beautiful touch that I've noticed is how the packages open. The top is stuck to the package with some stickers. Once you remove the stickers, the package slowly drops from the lid, being ever so slightly smaller than the lid. That slow drop adds the perfect amount of elegance to the mundane act of opening a package. The user's first glance at their new phone is it slowly descending in a pure white box. Maybe it's cheesy but it just feels elegant. Compared to the usual squeaky Styrofoam or fussy cardboard flaps, it's really quite nice.

It's not the worst design, but it's pretty far from the best. I think a booklet-style package would suit the iPhone pretty well: one side has the iPhone, one side has the charger and booklet, and the sticker(s) are nestled inside.

FWIW my aged dad struggled to remove shrink wrap. He also complains of hotel beds being made too well. I agree with him.

I don't know why, but reading this fills me with a profound sense of sadness. I think a much more interesting piece would feature Apple's packaging contrasting a dense or interesting scene. At least that would be a statement - this really just looks like someone booted up a vector program and tested some shape tools out.
