Ask HN: Good Sources of News in Australia?

I am interested what sources of news people in Australia recommend. Is there anything that’s free, high quality and not ideologically driven?

The ABC: https://www.abc.net.au/news/

And SBS: https://www.sbs.com.au/news/

From the little I've watched ABC on youtube they are pretty biased. Very pro UK and anti EU.

So you know next to nothing about the ABC but you nevertheless have strong opinions about it.

Prove it. Show me all this supposed anti-EU stuff.

I worked at ABC for 5years as a dev, they are far left when it comes to political views and yes they try to imitate what BBC does. But still it is the best national news site in Australia. smh is next.

Describing the ABC as "far left" is as much of a nonsense as describing it as "anti-EU".

A free press is one you pay for.

i really like the sydney morning herald, surprised its not already suggested

I see tony-allan and cloudrover have recommended three of the fakest fake news outlets in that country.

There is a reason you have to pay for good journalism with your own money.

Out of interest what evidence do you have for this and what would you recommend?
