Moderna hits safety problems in bold bid to revolutionize medicine (2017)

There are a lot of ways in which the world got rather lucky that we had so many issues related to developing the covid-19 vaccines already on our rader, for years before we knew we would need them for covid-19. The rise (and thankfully quick fall) of SARS, and then later MERS, put a lot of investigation into coronaviruses. mRNA had been a target for years without a big payoff yet.

My favorite part of this article is the part where they express skepticism that Moderna should be valued similarly to Uber and Lyft. They were right, it shouldn't, but not in the way they meant.
