1min Climate Actions
Climate change is a big, hairy problem. Mostly because it is about global collaboration. I started reading on what I can do and there is a ton of advice out there. However, little of the advice can be turned into an action within 1min. Following the Fogg Behavior model, I was wondering:
What would happen if there would be a list of action items that any person can complete within 1min. And if they would complete 1 item per day.
What do you think about this? Do you have ideas for 1min climate actions?
- e.g. how to help turn a carbon tax into a reality?
- e.g. how to help that more people watch movies like Interstellar or others? After all, not all tasks have to be dry and those movies definitely alter your mind
Some ideas from my side (that I already did or will do in the next 7 days):1min actions:
- enter a reminder in your calendar to do a 1min action every day (raises your involvement in the future)
- ask a friend/coworker: "what actions did you take in the past against climate change?" (raises awareness and might give you ideas)
- get Bill Gates' new book on Climate Change e.g. via Amazon or the provider of your choice https://www.amazon.com/How-Avoid-Climate-Disaster-Breakthroughs/dp/0385546130 (raises your involvement)
- comment on this post with your first reaction (raises your involvement and provides valuable input via your perspective)
- share this post e.g. via direct message or social media (raises awareness and motivates others)
1min+ actions: (for people who have more time or ambitions) - write forum posts similar to this one in your favorite online community - feel free to copy verbatim if it makes it easier to you
- change the plan with your energy provider to eco+ if you can afford it
- create a website or notion document or google spreadsheet that lists possible actions - bonus points if people can vote on the easiest/most effective solutions or even track what they already did in the past
