When asked to fix something, we don’t even think of removing parts

Overall I think improving something by removing, addition by subtraction, is harder to accomplish and less intuitive. It's also scarier, because if you're wrong and you're not actually removing a negative, instead you've made it worse.

Adding is less scary in that case. Especially when you think the stuff you are adding is good, which you probably will because you're the one who made it.
